This is my friend Craig who I've known since I was in the second grade.
Our family will be in Northern California this Thanksgiving so we will not be able to share it with Craig and his wife Becky in Louisiana. Maybe someone who reads this blog WILL be able to join them there.
The photo of Craig was taken this year at our 30th high school reunion as he was sharing about the work he and his wife do to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
If anyone can help you will also enjoy a chance to mingle with people of various beliefs. Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, and more , I'm sure - so you get to experience how VERY different people can join together for a common cause. Craig and Becky have been an inspiration to us and we are happy to help get the word out about this effort. If you do not have plans for Thanksgiving - please consider this adventure.
Now here is the email that came from Craig today:
I would like to invite you and your friends to join me in Chauvin, Louisiana for Thanksgiving. We will be hosting a "Blitz" roofing week in this area that was severely affected by Hurricane Gustav and Ike. Over 30% of all the roofs were damaged and most of the families in this area are far below the medium income level. We are hoping to repair and re-roof 50 homes during the week of Thanksgiving. If you have never spent your holiday serving someone in need, I believe you will find that it will be one of the best holidays you have experienced. If you are unable to come yourself but are able to help me get this invitation out to others you might think would be interested, I would be grateful.
Basic details are as follows:
Dates: 11/23/08 - 11/29/08
Cost: Suggested donation only $20 per person per day
Airport: Closest airport is New Orleans
Transportation: We will pick you up from the airport or you can rent a car if you would like your own transportation.
You can email me or phone me at 903-714-8967 for more details.
Thanks,
Craig Snow
