Clear Skies Open Highway (so far)

I think Joseph was 4 or 5 in this picture. At the time we were traveling the country with everything packed up in a van. (I can just hear someone out there - "Oh no honey! He's showing home movies!") Well I guess that is what we DO in this blog - right?.

The only difference is you're watching the 'home movies' as they're being made -plus you get to comment on them! By the way, thank you Rob for the info on that Dorothy Day quote in the last post. I've always loved it and am glad to give credit.

We leave today for Texas. Joe is there already to help with the concert and conference this week. He just called to report heavy rains and flooding. This is when I really feel God calling us to 'work' in Hawaii! Today in Oklahoma it is clear and 85 degrees. Enough weather. We always pray "Angels line the highway!" Thank you to anyone who joins us in that prayer today.

What's your window?

The greatest adventure is doing the will of God. What keeps you from venturing out or breathing the fresh air of this adventure called faith?

Past hurt? No time? No direction? Lack of trust? Hmmmmm. Most who stop by here believe in God. Well, God has a plan. God heals hurts. God has all the time in the world plus eternity in the next.

Perfect love casts out all fear.

Our Father in Heaven, send us your Holy Spirit. Pour into us a confidence that is not our own, inspiration that can only come from you, and a peace to see us through our moments of doubt. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Someday I hope this blog will truly "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable" and do I ever wish I had come up with that excellent quote myself. Who did? Anyone know?

This is officially a meandering post. I'm just wanting to stir some thought or prayer. Mostly I wanted to thank you again for your prayers. I also want to thank those of you who posted messages to the "Offer It Up!" post. You wrote some beautiful things and soon I'd like to explore that subject further with you.

We leave for Texas next week. Some of you have told us by phone or otherwise that you feel sorry for us being on the road. Don't. After all these months, we feel at home on the road now. This is our season to travel. As time allows I will share more about life on the road. Now it is almost 1AM - goodnight!

Joseph's Appendectomy

We joke about how life seems like a merry-go-round. After arriving home Joseph began to have pains in his lower right abdomen. Other symptoms made us take him in and a day later he had an appendectomy. He is home now and doing fine.

Our biggest challenge is trying to keep him from laughing because it hurts so much. I know it must seem like we are the 'health-emergency-family' but I think this is just our 'season' for it. Thank you again for your prayerful support.

Almost Home

Thankful to report we are almost home!

Mary took this great picture of the St. Louis Arch as we drove past.

After we get home and rest a bit I hope to give more reports about how God
took care of us along the way. Please feel free to share stories of how God has led your family, provided for your family, helped your family - you name it.

We are certainly not the only ones God blesses like this and we are equally encouraged to hear the infinite number of ways God has come through for you and your family along the way.
More to come.

Mission Accomplished

Josie (aka Nurse Nancy) did a great job taking me back and forth to and from two surgeries a week apart. She shared many stories from her ongoing life adventure.
Josie is a world traveler, daughter, wife, mother, nurse, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

I am thankful to have had the chance to meet and get to know her during my stay in Atlanta. Please join me in asking God to bless her and her family for opening heart and home to me in a time of real need. Angels surround her home and loved ones.

Treatment is over for now. The tumor is expected to swell in reaction to the radiation. Every two months they will examine the eye and measure the tumor as it slowly shrinks away altogether. God’s will in God’s time.

Thank you all for your prayers. For all my planning to pray and offer things up, there were moments when I was not able to pray or perhaps it just seemed that way. At those times it was a blessing to know I could rest in the prayers others were offering on my behalf. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! I will post more as time permits.

Your Prayers At Work!

Michael called tonight with wonderful news - the MRI results for the liver scan show no cancer! Additionally, the lesion that was removed from his right forearm last week, which the doctor deemed suspicious, was not a melanoma. It is considered pre-cancerous. Michael will have another examination of his skin soon as a precaution but we wanted to share this great news with all of you who have offered your prayers and love in hopes of healing. Your prayers are still requested for the eye cancer, for the procedure to remove the radioactive seeds and disk, for Michael's travel back to his family and for the welfare of his family and ministry during this time.

I can assure you that Michael is in great spirits, albeit a bit more fatigued today than in the past several days. It is a powerful time of prayer and I can hear the peace in his voice. All of this, thanks to your prayers and the providential care of our Heavenly Father.

"In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit."
(Ephesians 2:22)
